China warns of new computer virus

In what some see as an unusual move, China's government has beaten the rest of the world in issuing a warning about a new computer virus that has the potential to wreak havoc on computer users worldwide. The virus, Worm_Piloyd.B, could infect documents like exe, html and asp and prevent the system from restoring the affected documents, according to the Tianjin-based National Computer Virus Emergency Response Center. What makes the worm particularly nasty is that the virus could force the system to download other viruses from designated websites compiling the troubles and the fixes, according to the center. While rumors warn of the new virus's eventual spread to Europe and America, so far there have been no warnings from internet security companies, although there is speculation that they are evaluating and preparing for the spread of the virus, according to several websites. Experts in China have suggested computer users update their anti-virus software and use the real-time computer virus monitoring function whenever they surf the internet as protection against the spread of the troublesome Worm_Piloyd.B virus.
